The Design Challenge.

Yes, I would definitely get involved in the online communities we’ve been researching and my choice will be heavily dependent on the design challenge I’ve been given. Our team has been looking into Facebook and Kickstarter. Kickstarter would be amazing for the fund raising part. It’s very easy and simple. Facebook has a much wider community, so it would be easier for people to share my idea to their friends. By doing so, my design project will get some free publicity and I can get a small community talking about it. Sometimes it’s hard to get in touch with the desired market through Facebook.

I could use one of these two websites mentioned above but I would also think of researching into a more specific website for the design I want to do. I will need to define the targeted community and do my research accordingly. Which forums/imageboards/blogs are they using? I’ll have to get familiar with their networks and come up with a way to appeal to them.

Good observation about client needs and context. I think one of the biggest professional challenges these days is keeping up with the possibilities and options.
