This week the personal assignment is a bit different from the previous ones. It is consisted of only two sentences, but as always, you need to read them at least seventeen times in order to understand what is actually wanted from you. I don’t think anybody else has problems understanding the tasks, because when I read what others think, their reflections actually make sense. I believe it is only me that is confused most of the time and I think I know why. Now, when I think about my schooldays, I remember I’ve always hated the classes where you need to write reflections, essays and so on. I was just scared of them because I cannot develop theories, thesis nor expressing my opinion on such questions. On the other hand, I have always been fan of the science, physics, math and the lessons where you actually need to create something with your hands. To be honest, I don’t completely understand this week’s question, but since it is mandatory, I have to give it a try as they say.
So far, thanks to projectcommunities classes I gained a lot of experience with all these online communities. I discovered websites that I believe are going to be very helpful for me in future. Now I know how to easily raise money if a have a good idea for a product. I know which websites have the biggest success and which not. I also now know how to present my idea in a way that people will like it.
If I need to design and foster online community the first thing to do is get a lot of people involved. By doing this the website will gain popularity and that is of course very important. Second of all, nobody likes complicated and elaborate websites, because they are not easy to use, so the online community I design needs not to be difficult to use. This is the main reason I think Facebook is that popular. Finally, the website has to look good, with the right color palettes. It is the same with the clothes – if you don’t like it you are not buying it. Same goes for the website, because if the website looks like if it is created for fifteen minutes by a nine year old, I would most probably not take it seriously and just click the red X in the upper right corner.
Here we are, back and rested from the small vacation we had. This was my first vacation as student so it was kind of special for me, even though I didn’t do anything special during it. Vacations are nice and everyone likes them but there is one disadvantage about them. They are never long enough.
With the start of this week the new assignments also came out. This time the question is whether I would join an online communitie if I have a design challenge? The answer is yes, I would join and participate, because online communities are the places where you usually find most of the answers you’ve been looking for and the needed help to solve that design challenge. However, sometimes the market is dependable and you don’t need to join any of the online communities in order to solve the challenge.
In conclusion I would like to say that I really love the fact that nowadays there are so much websites that help you raise money and actually develop your own product. I believe this kind of communities are a huge breakthrough for the young developers and the bussines world
When project comunities started in the begining, nobody said it would be an easy course. Especially because it was something new for everybody, something they had never done before and the fact that the english language is not mother language to 95% of us makes it even more confusing sometimes.
Now when the weeks pass by and when I read every week the posts of other people I make my general impression for the people and the course. With each passing week I notice that everybody gets more and more confident in their comments, but that is something absolutely normal I guess. If you still fell constrained, I suggest you contact one of the teachers of the course. For instance the first comment that I had to do for week one took me an hour and a half, but now I can say that with experience comes self-confidence.
So far I have been reading everything my group posts in tumblr and nearly everything that others post. I can say I monitor their work pretty well but I just dont comment that mutch. According to my judgment so far people now realize better what they actually have to do, but since we are a very international class, evetybody understands the tasks and assignments in different way. Of course this is not something bad. I really like to read what others have to say and especially how they say it. By now I can say that everyone is doing good job and I hope this lasts till the end of the course.
As you think about the learning you are embarking upon here at the university, reflect on the role that your instructors and fellow students play in facilitating yours and their learning. What are they doing? How is it facilitating learning and teamwork based on what you have experienced so far? What has been useful? What would you like to see and experience that you haven’t yet in the facilitation of this course from yourself, peers and faculty? What can you contribute as a peer facilitator?
Today I experienced something I had never experienced before. Our whole lesson took place online, infront of the camera. All groups ware online at the same time and they all had visual contact with each other. I might say it all went pretty good, because we had very good organisation, even though it was our first time to try something like this.
My group played a big role for the facilitating today. Tzvetelina was given the task to write the questions and other important stuff in the chat box. Not an easy job I can say because she needed to listen evetything the others had to say, but she did a very good job. Our teachers also contribute a lot to the general facilitation because they are the people that keep everything going. Everytime my group have difficulties understanding something, a teacher appears out of nowhere and explains everything one more time in different way but at the same time with simple words.
Todays’ lesson was useful because I got to know how to use google drive, something I had never used before and I also understood what facilitation in general means. I think the course is going very well and I had experienced and saw a lot of new things, but I cant say what I would like to see and experience in future. The time will show us. And finaly as a peer facilitator I think it would be great if everyone in the group has a certain role/job. That way we can all be active and we can all contribute to the facilitation
Four weeks since the start of the program and three posts later I am starting to feel more confident in my descisions and everything I write in the blog. The blog itself was a really good idea, as I had said before. I like to read what others write every week, because everyone understands the weekly task in different way. Everyone has a different style of writting and completing each weeks assignments and this is what it makes the blogs different one from each other and at the same time interesting and a pleasure to read.
For this fourth week of our study we have been given the following question as a personal assignment: How much does your personal preference drive your tool choices? What if everyone else in your group had different preferences? How would you proceed as you steward the technology? Does looking at others’ preferences and perspectives change your view as a tech steward? Challenge you?
Well, when it comes to choosing online tools, my personal preferences don’t play a big role. If I like the website or if I think it will help me one way or another, I start using it. For example, when facebook was not that popular and everyone still had myspace pages, all my friends also had. I didn’t liked the idea of having an online profile in such a website, but I registered myself because all my friends had accounts already.
Everyone wants something different from life, because every person is different from the other. Thats why I assume everybody from my group have different preferences. I believe this is normal and actually It would be strange if they haven’t. Its good for a group to have people with different preferences, because when they work as a group on one task, they would all have different perspective and a point of view over the task. I actually believe that looking at others’ perspectives helps you realise that your perspective isnt always the only one and especially its not always the right one
